At the House Of Blues, Orlando, Florida, (20.05.2001)

Report from Greg M. e:

I am pleased to report that the Killer showed up in Orlando,FL and rocked a capacity crowd at the House Of Blues with a fine, one-hour performance. While certainly not physically the wild performer he once was (heel on the keyboard only once, no kicking back of the piano stool, etc.), Jerry's vocals and piano were in very fine form, undistinguishable from his best 1980's performances. Kenny and the band were rock-solid, too. The set list:

Roll Over Beethoven
You Win Again ("I love you still - but not TOO still, darlin'")
Sweet Little Sixteen
Georgia On My Mind
Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee
No Headstone On My Grave
Why You Been Gone So Long
Lucille
Boogie Woogie Country Man
Blues Like Midnight (uptempo)
Over the Rainbow
a snippet of Sweet Little Sixteen 16 again ("oops-never mind, already done that one!")
Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On
Great Balls of Fire (very extended, several piano solos)
and closing with Mexicali Rose.

The crowd was great, and Jerry really perked up when someone threw a bra on-stage! And the House of Blues sound system was perfect, mixing Jerry's vocals and piano solos with great clarity. It had been 10 years since I had last seen him, and frankly, wasn't sure what to expect. I came away satisfied that reports of his demise as a perfomer are greatly exagerated!
